2026 Fundraiser Workshop

Join us for a joyful day of study and play with West African Drums!  

Sara Cronan (djembe) of HSH Music Studio and Special Guest Linda Orovitz (dununs)(NC) are ready to share their passion about these instruments and the magic of the cultural music of West Africa; creating an inspired learning environment open to people of all ages and abilities.  Sara hopes to encourage a community of drummers right here in Myrtle Beach interested in continued studies of West African music.

Some drums are provided by The Different Drum Shop and HSH Music Studio.  Bring your own djembe if you have one!

This workshop is also intended to support the crucial mission of Bolokada and Friends Village Project (501(c)3).  They help with projects to provide access to clean water, health, education and scholarships for the children of Morowaya, Guinea. Moussa Bolokada Conde is a world renowned Guinean Grandmaster Drummer dedicated to sharing the culture of his country and care for the people of Morowaya.

DURING OCTOBER ONLY-- Every donation made "In honor of HSH Music Studio" will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Heart Song Humanitarian Foundation up to $4,000! Even if you can't attend the workshop you can still make a difference!

1:30pm- About Bolokada and Friends Village Project

1:45pm- A Tiny History of the Djembe and it's Place in America

2pm-3pm- Bass, Tone, Slap! Three notes to create melody

3pm-3:30pm- BREAK! Meet others player and our partner businesses, check out the raffles and enjoy some snacks (provided)

3:30pm-4:45pm- Learn a cultural song (TBA)

4:45pm- Raffle drawings!  (Winners must be present to claim their prize)
